- Undergraduate Students - All years and disciplines from Kazakh and international universities.
- Graduate Students - Students pursuing master's degrees in environmental science, engineering, technology, or related fields.
- Ph.D. Researchers - Doctoral students working on sustainability, environmental technology, or climate solutions.
- Young Professionals - Early-career professionals with less than 3 years of experience in related fields.
Eligible Participants
Team Formation
- Participants can register as individuals or in teams of 2-4 members.
- Teams are encouraged to be interdisciplinary, combining environmental expertise with technology, design, and business skills.
- Each team must designate one team leader who will be responsible for registration and communication.
- At least one team member should have technical skills relevant to the chosen challenge area.
Project Requirements
- Solutions must be original and innovative, addressing at least one of the SmartEarth 2025 challenge areas.
- Projects should demonstrate environmental impact, feasibility, and scalability.
- Submissions should incorporate technology as a key enabler for environmental solutions.
- Teams are encouraged to consider local context and applicability to Kazakhstan's environmental challenges.
Participation Rules
- Participants must comply with Nazarbayev University's code of conduct throughout the event.
- All intellectual property (IP) developed during the hackathon remains with the creating team, with a non-exclusive license granted to organizers for promotional purposes.
- Plagiarism or previously submitted projects will result in immediate disqualification.
- At least one team member must be present at Nazarbayev University for the final presentations.
